The Innovation Campus Lemgo (ICL) is an internationally renowned center of excellence for the digital transformation of industry. Within a compact physical area, the TH OWL, top-tier research institutes like Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, and global technology leaders form a seamless network.
This ecosystem facilitates a complete value chain—from the initial academic idea to market-ready products. Through facilities like the SmartFactoryOWL and CIIT, the campus offers a state-of-the-art infrastructure focusing on AI, cyber security, and industrial communication. Smart Factory OWL
Located in Lemgo, SmartFactoryOWL serves as a premier research and demonstration center for industrial digitalization. Operated as a joint initiative between the TH OWL and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, it provides a 2,000 m² real-world laboratory where Industry 4.0 concepts are rigorously tested.
The facility bridges the gap between academic research and industrial application by hosting advanced testbeds for digital twins, machine learning, and human-machine collaboration. It offers an open ecosystem for SMEs and international researchers to validate smart production technologies under controlled yet realistic conditions, effectively accelerating the transfer of digital innovation into global manufacturing standards.

Centrum Industrial IT (CIIT)
The Centrum Industrial IT (CIIT) in Lemgo is Germany's first Science-to-Business Center in the field of industrial automation. Spanning over 10,000 m², it brings together research institutes like the TH OWL's inIT and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA under one roof with leading technology companies such as Phoenix Contact and Weidmüller.
This unique ecosystem accelerates the transfer of technology from academic theory to market readiness. Key research areas include industrial communication, cyber security, and artificial intelligence for production. As a core element of the Innovation Campus Lemgo, the CIIT provides a highly specialized IT infrastructure where partners collaboratively define the standards for the factory of the future.

InnovationSpin
The InnovationSPIN at the Innovation Campus Lemgo is a pioneering joint project between craftsmanship, academia, and the regional economy. Covering approximately 12,000 square meters, this striking building provides a unique platform for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange between the TH OWL, the District Craftsmanship Association, and the District of Lippe.
As a flagship Think Tank for the Regionale 2022, it drives digital transformation within SMEs and traditional crafts. Through shared workshops, laboratories like the GESTALT.BAR, and co-working spaces, it develops innovative solutions for real-world challenges. The InnovationSPIN serves as a vibrant ecosystem, networking education and research to sustainably strengthen the future of the rural region.
